Meet The Team
A tireless perfectionist who pays attention to every detail, Dr. Grunau’s approach is to enhance her patients’ natural beauty by respecting the individual anatomical and unique facial features of each of her patients. She strongly believes in positive aging, and focuses on the subtle and incremental ways non-surgical treatments can be implemented to refresh and rejuvenate her patient’s facial features. Inspired by her love of fine detail and procedural medicine, combined with a passion to help people look and feel their best, she is excited to welcome you to her clinic in South Granville, Vancouver.
Dr. Grunau completed her medical degree at the University of British Columbia, followed by Family Practice residency at the University of Toronto, and Emergency Medicine specialization at McGill University. She is a certified advanced aesthetic injector, currently completing her Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine at the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine (CBAM). Dr. Grunau holds a position as a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine, within the Faculty of Medicine. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine, the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine, the Doctors of BC Section of Emergency Medicine, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Dr. Grunau is a licensed and registered medical doctor with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

Dr. Grunau divides her clinical practice between her boutique medical aesthetics clinic in Vancouver, and the ER at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock. She is actively engaged in formal continuing medical aesthetics education, in addition to training and collaborating with experts in the field both locally and internationally. Most importantly, she is a mom to two amazing teenagers, and a budding entrepreneur working on developing a local business together with her husband, Russell. When she is not busy working in the clinic or the ER, she and Russell enjoy staying active, and spending time with their two children, family, friends and community.

Russell Koenigbaur, BSc (Business)
Russell’s career began over two decades ago when he joined UPS, a renowned Fortune 500 company, as a major account executive. Throughout his tenure at UPS, he has demonstrated a strong ability to help businesses grow, winning the Champions Circle Award for top sales in Canada in 2022. Russell’s business expertise extends across various industries including health care, technology, and logistics services. He is excited to apply his experience and knowledge to developing a local small business together with his wife, Dr. Esther Grunau.
Russell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, and has developed a strong foundation in sales and marketing strategies. His education, combined with his natural aptitude for communication and negotiation, are instrumental in his successful career as a sales and business development professional. Russell’s roles include managing clinic operations, patient inquiries, and ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction.

Outside of his career in sales and managing the medical aesthetics clinic, Russell is a devoted father, husband and family and community member, and he enjoys getting onto the basketball court and soccer field whenever he can. Born and raised in Vancouver, Russell runs into friends and acquaintances wherever he goes, and he always has time to stop and say hello.

Philosophy
My philosophy
My mission is to offer safe and effective, best practice medical aesthetics to my patients with technical precision, honesty, integrity, and warmth.
I spent years considering how to build a medical aesthetics practice that reflects my core values, which did not always feel aligned with common perceptions of the world of medical aesthetics. At times, this industry seems to encourage excess, vanity, and negativity towards natural aging – which may lead some people to feel intimidated and reluctant to seek out treatments, or may contribute to a personal sense of shame and secrecy around getting them done.
Simply put, I believe medical aesthetics treatments provide people with options for self-care and beautification, which – when done responsibly, carefully, and by a trained medical practitioner – may contribute positively to quality of life and a sense of well-being.
I have learned that there are people who, in the pursuit of looking and feeling their best, are searching for something different. That’s why I have created a space where people can feel at ease in their skin (literally and figuratively), and where I can help them identify and take steps towards their personal self-care goals, wherever they happen to be in their journey. My vision is to provide safe, technically precise, and effective medical aesthetics treatments in a setting that is warm, personable, accessible, and comfortable.
I truly believe in positive aging, in building relationships, and in putting my patients’ interests first. I will be there each and every step of the way – from your initial questions to your treatment, and through to your follow up and beyond. I tell all my patients that this is a process and a journey, and I am here to guide and offer options in line with your personal goals, realistic outcomes, and best medical practice. And whether you are interested in getting neuromodulator (“botox”) treatment on your “11s” (the lines between your brows) for the first time, or looking for full facial rejuvenation and top of the line medical grade skincare products, I would love to meet you, discuss your goals and come up with a treatment plan that is right for you.
